“All-in-one” compact network appliance design
Why Net/Radar™?
For the past decade, JSpectrum has focused on researching and developing network-based location innovations that have been successfully deployed by mobile operators across Asia. Needless to say, such network-wide deployments are complex and time-consuming to effectively implement. Net/Radar ensures deploying location-based solutions is now as easy as simply installing another network appliance. It also enables mobile operators to quickly test and develop location-based services, carry out ad-hoc deployments and even re-deployments such as covering high-density metropolitan areas or event-based exhibition halls and stadiums.
What is Net/Radar?
An ‘all-in-one’ single-server solution, Net/Radar supports network-based location services within a single Mobile Service Centre (MSC) area. Its ‘network appliance’ approach enables rapidly deployable ‘plug-and-play’ connectivity for affordably low initial investments. The system’s built-in ‘ready-to-use’ applications also mean mobile operators can now deploy location-aware mobile services such as mobile advertising with NetRadar for one single MSC area with a capacity of up to 1,000,000 subscribers.
Net/Radar incorporates several sub-systems. A PCIe data capture card that acts as a lite version of NetProbe and provides connectivity and interfaces between a MSC and NetRadar itself. At the system’s heart lies an OMA MLP middleware plus other basic application services needed to facilitate the connectivity, location trigger and query between the data capture card and the client applications. Net/Radar also comes with two powerful ‘read-to-use’ applications, Net/Ad and HeatMap.
NetProbe Lite
Comprising an internal luCS and S1-MME probe and embedded Net/Probe software capable of capturing up to 1,000 locations and signalling events per second in real-time, Net/Probe Lite connects to an MSC via a network Aggregation Tap.
OMA MLP Middleware
NetRadar™ also integrates an OMA MLP version 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 middleware plus a collection of necessary application services and classes for managing network functionality and connectivity between the various sub-systems.
NetAdCentre™ Lite
NetAd Lite provides full NetAd functionality limited for a single corporate user plus up to 50 advertisers. Such ‘ready-to-use’ application enables mobile operators to offer location-aware mobile advertisement or marketing campaigns either as a commercial service or as a ‘proof-of-concept’ platform.
HeatMap
A web-based visualisation application, HeatMap provides a snap-shot of total user concentrations and movements at fixed time intervals within a particular area. HeatMap allows a user to define specific zones or locations graphically on a map, with the starting and ending date and time, and the interval to display the captured data for further analysis.
‘All-in-one’ compact network appliance design
The PCI-e data capture card, host server, MLP middleware and software for NetAd Lite and HeatMap are pre-configured and pre-installed in a compact 2U carrier-grade state-of-the-art server as an ‘All-in-one’ network appliance for easy installation and rapid deployment.
